QUEEN Sightings!!
I've been quarantined with the flu for close to a week now (the consequences of living on a campus of germ-ridden college students). It was such a hardship this past week having to miss all my classes and re-read the Tairen Soul novels... :) Unfortunately, yesterday I was still too sick to brave the general public and instead had to enjoy the celebrations on the Cheryl's blog and finished reading King for the umpteenth time. Luckily, today I was fever free and I went straight to our local Bloomington, IL Barnes and Noble. Queen is now resting comfortably on my bookshelf along with Lord, Lady and King. I almost wish I was still sick so I could skip class tomorrow and read the day away... ~ Ally, Bloomington, IL
The night of release day, I check online at my local Borders, Barnes & Noble, and independent bookstores (the ones that have websites, anyway). ALL of them say "Not in stock," to my dismay. I figure they just haven't updated the sites yet, as it was the first day, so I decided to go for it anyway. I struck out for the nearest Borders (in Los Angeles, CA), where the computers still say "Not in stock" and the books aren't in the shelves. Thank goodness one of the employees was nice enough to look in the back for me. :) ~ Alhambra, CA
After a long day I was looking forward to picking up QUEEN at Barnes and Noble. It was around five o'clock and having checked Barnes and Noble on my mobile for QUEEN in its store inventory, it didn't look hopeful. Apparently they didn't have it in stock, but alas, I went any ways, hoping they might have it. Nothing, or so I thought. I scanned the shelves for a few minutes the browsed the romance inventory and finally resorted to asking an attendant (I almost never ask for assistance since I know the store like the back of my palm) However I didn't get that far. A woman right on wheeled up a small cart and on it.. you guessed it. Five fresh copies of Queen, directly from the back to be shelved. I squeed and I pried, seeing as I just couldn't wait until she put them on the shelves, exclaiming, "Oh just the book I was looking for!" She gave me an odd look, but handed me a gleaming copy. QUEEN Sightings!!
Gia at her local Borders (Town Center, Brandon, FL) after a long day at the office.....finds there are only three remaining copies of "Queen of Song and Souls"!!!! All for me!! Muah-ha-ha-ha!!!! ~Gia~
To start the day, I very impatiently waited to get out of work to go shopping. First, we hit Wal-Mart since that was the very first place I ever saw a Tairen Soul book. No luck. So then we go to Schuler's since it's right down the road. No luck there, either. (You could feel the energy coming off me, I wanted this book so bad). We left to go to Barnes and Noble on the Michigan State University Campus ... I ran down the escalator and hustled over to the romance section. Hmmm, every other Tairen Soul book but not Queen.
Thankfully Barnes & Noble is well staffed enough where they can help customers immediately. OHMYGOODNESS!!! The computer said they had it, so we trot back down to the romance section and of course it's not there, since I had JUST looked. So she goes to the back room, and FINALLY, FINALLY comes out with it in her hand. So I am rhapsodizing to her about the series and telling her she has GOT to read them. Then I go to the cashier and tell her how great the books are and she has GOT to read them. Finally, I am the proud owner of a Queen book. All the way home my mom heard "They are SO lucky they had it, if I would have had to make them call every bookstore in Michigan to find my book they would have been sorry, etc. etc. etc." ~East Lansing, MI
My husband's morning started extra early this morning, he is active duty and had a formation very early fun army stuff. Anyway being the loving husband he is got up extra early to go check the shelf's at walmart to see if the book was available yet so it would be there waiting for me when I woke up. Alas it was not :( but when he came home from work for lunch we set out on a mission, first to walmart again but alas queen had not made her arrival to the shelves then it was off to borders where I got a coffee and combed the shelf's in horror no book, until a nice lady pushing a book cart asked if she could help me. Please I said Please tell me you have Queen of Song and Souls by C.L. Wilson on there, she began searching her stack it wasn't looking good, then a spine of a book caught my eye on the back of the cart could it be was my search over? YES!!! there it was the book I've been waiting for with as much enthusiasm as I had for the last Harry Potter book. I paid for it and thank goodness my husband was driving because the minute i got in the car i began to read. Now its cold and rainy and I'm turning on the fireplace and curling up on the couch to read. ~ Ft. Eustis, VA
Just like where I first found the first books, Wallie World (Wal-Mart) happens to be the place I can get books easiest. There are no bookstores close by because I live in the middle of nowhere in a village. But! I called Wallie World at midnight last night and asked if they'd put it out on the floor then, they told me no and I cried myself to sleep. JK. So on my way to class the next day for college, I couldn't run fast enough into the WalMart and find the book section. There she was...her aura gold and brilliant. I skipped to the checkouts and ran to my car. Too bad I couldn't read while driving ~Fredericktown, OH

I thought we could do something different today. Instead of me asking a question, I thought we try a "write what comes next" story. It can be crazy funny, sexy (PG rating max, please), or silly. Here's how it works, I'll start off the story with a brief paragraph that ends on an unfinished sentence. The first person to respond completes my sentence and starts a new one of their own. You can write as much (within reason please) or as little as you like, but be sure to end on an unfinished sentence.
Ready? Let's go. Here's the first part of our story - and where it goes from here is entirely up to you all!
Setting: Dharsa, The Fading Lands Time: Let's have fun and say it's AFTER Tairen Soul and the end of the new Mage Wars.
Sparks flew as the gleaming steel of two mei'cha scimitars crashed against each other. The swords and the two seasoned Fey warriors wielding them fought a brief battle for dominance, but neither gave quarter.
White teeth flashed beneath cobalt eyes. Belliard vel Jelani stepped back and grinned at his friend, Gaelen vel Serranis. "Not bad, my blade brother. Your footwork could use a little practice though. I nearly had you on that last move."
One black brow arched expressively. "Keep dreaming, vel Jelani." Gaelen slid his mei'cha into its sheath in one smooth motion. "They tell me hope is good for the soul."
Bel laughed, and the pair of them turned to make their way off the Academy's dusty training field. As they neared the entrance to the Warrior's Hall, the doors burst open and a harried young warrior raced out. He skidded to a stop at the sight of them.
"Ser vel Jelani! Ser vel Serranis! Come quick! The Feyreisen needs you. There's a --"

"Tairen's Play" ~ Original Tairen Art Wall Plaque
Sleek, golden Fahreeta and her indulgent mate Torasul tumble playfully through a bright summer sky in Heather Carr's original oil painting, "Tairen's Play". I must say, this is my personal favorite. I love the bright, blue summer sky, the rich golden hue of Fahreeta's fur, the affectionate twining of their tails as they tumble, the soft undertones of outstretched wings gleaming with translucent pinkness in the sun. It's as if Heather lifted the image straight from my imagination and transferred it to canvas.
A digitized rendition of the painting has been reduced to 4"x6" and mounted on a golden-oak stained solid wood plaque suitable for wall display. The full-sized painting will soon be available on Heather's website, http://www.darkparadise.org/Paintings_index/pindex.htm

Carved Stone Pocket Tairen
Imported from China, carved from Aventurine, Jasper, Sodalite, and Goldstone, pocket tairen guard the pride. (Note: the Sodalite appears black in this photograph but is acutally varying shades of blue and white.) The larger editions of the pocket tairen (Sodalite, Green Aventurine, and Jasper) stand approximately 2" x 1" x 1.5". The Goldstone tairen is slightly smaller.
I comb the crystal shops looking for stone tairen. These four I picked up this year from DragonCon. I'll be giving away three this week and the fourth will be part of a "Grand Prize" basket of goodies to celebrate Release Day!

Question of the Day:
My artist friend, Heather Carr, has several other Tairen Art projects in the works including: A portrait of a tairen family. Does this pose look familiar to you? It should. Rain commissioned Ellysetta's father Sol to carve a tairen matepair in ebonwood and fireoak, and Sol took the liberty of adding a pair of tairen kitlings playing at the feet of the tairen mates. I can't wait to see the color version of this.
And a portrait of Merdrahl's Fire Song. After his mate, Cahlah, died attempting to defend their unhatched young from the mysterious "wasting sickness", the tairen Merdrahl would have suffered the painful, lingering death of mate-loss, but the pride granted him peace and freed the matepair's souls through the fiery funeral rites of the Fire Song.
In the finished piece, a boiling sea of red-orange flames and smoke will wreath Merdrahl.
Heather and I hope to develop a complete series of paintings from the books, so my Question of the Day is the following:

"Steli Chakai" ~ Original Tairen Art Wall Plaque
Heather Carr brings the fierce defender of the Fey'Bahren pride to radiant life in her original oil painting, "Steli Chakai". This gorgeous work of art depects the tairen Steli, fierce chakai of the Fey'Bahren pride, standing in the entrance cavern of the tairen's lair, Fey'Bahren. Subtle pinks, blues, and lavenders grace the underside's of Steli's snowy wings.

Carved Stone Pocket Tairen
Imported from China, carved from Aventurine, Jasper, Sodalite, and Goldstone, pocket tairen guard the pride. (Note: the Sodalite appears black in this photograph but is acutally varying shades of blue and white.) The larger editions of the pocket tairen (Sodalite, Green Aventurine, and Jasper) stand approximately 2" x 1" x 1.5". The Goldstone tairen is slightly smaller.
I comb the crystal shops looking for stone tairen. These four I picked up this year from DragonCon. I'll be giving away three this week and the fourth will be part of a "Grand Prize" basket of goodies to celebrate Release Day!
